Volunteer for Change is three organisations working in the field of social care who have joined forces to provide opportunities for older people, disabled people and people with learning disabilities who may no longer receive services, or have reduced services due to local authority cuts.
Just Services, Self-Advocacy in Action and mosaic: shaping disability services are all committed to offering continued support to people from these groups. They were set up with help through Personalisation Grants from the local authorities in City and County and have now received a further small grant from Leicestershire County Council to recruit and train volunteers to work with them.
They are offering an exciting range of volunteering opportunities to people throughout Leicestershire who want to work with older people, disabled people and people with learning disabilities. They will be running an induction and training course, starting Tuesday May 15, covering all the essential elements of working to give choice and control to the people we provide services for.
Following on from the training, there is the opportunity for a range of volunteer roles from working at events, to working with groups, from volunteer driving to supporting people to learn new skills. Volunteers will work alongside paid staff and will continue to get support throughout their volunteering, including the chance to think about progression into paid employment or further learning.
